GENEVA, Feb 20 2018 - (Geneva Centre) – The Executive Director of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue Ambassador Idriss Jazairy met with the Archbishop of Canterbury The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby during a conference organized on 16 February 2018 by the World Council of Churches on the theme of “Ecumenical Spring: from Negotiated Frontiers to Open Borders.”
The lecture was organized as part of the celebrations of the World Council of Church’s 70th anniversary and explored new dimensions in ecumenism, including “the ecumenism of action”.
Ambassador Jazairy informed the Archbishop of Canterbury regarding the Geneva Centre’s forthcoming World Conference entitled “Religions, Creeds and/or Other Value Systems: Joining Forces to Enhance Equal Citizenship Rights” to be held on 25 June 2018 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan.
The Geneva Centre’s Executive Director explained that the objective of the World Conference will be to harness the collective energy of religions, creeds and value systems in the pursuit of equal citizenship rights and to chart a forward-looking discussion to identify the required solutions to address the marginalization of disadvantaged and vulnerable social groups.
