IPS Correspondent Mbom Sixtus (@emsicool4reel) has won the Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship.

The fellowship is awarded each year to working journalists from developing countries and countries with economies in transition to cover the United Nations.

The programme brings a select group of journalists to New York to cover the opening of the General Assembly.

Sixtus, who is currently in New York, has reported for Inter Press Service for the last four years covering a range of issues, including human rights, corruption, conflict, climate change, and global development. During the fellowship, Mbom plans to focus on climate finance, the United Nations role in promoting conflict-resolution and sustainable development in Cameroon, and the fight against violent extremism in the Lake Chad Basin.
