Three Bangladeshi journalists recognized by IPS as a “galaxy of stars”

 Emilio Godoy

IPS is pleased to present its ‘galaxy of star journalists’ who traveled to the Bangladesh-Myanmar border areas to report on the plight of Muslim Rohingya men, women and children who fled persecution and torture in their home state of Rakhine, Myanmar.

Sohara Mehroze Shachi, a graduate from Yale University and recipient of the Asian Young Environmental Journalist of the Year Award; Naimul Haq, reporting for 22 years on health, human rights and climate change has been associated with IPS since 2009; and Farid Ahmed, whose 27-year career as a journalist has developed a blend of expertise in reporting, photography, copy editing and picture editing. Farid has written for IPS since 2006.

The three Bangladeshi journalists are recognized by IPS as a ‘galaxy of stars’ who made it possible for our readers to learn through their first-hand reports about unprecedented human rights violations, termed by the UN as a textbook example of ethnic cleansing.
