By IPS Correspondents and - -
HAVANA, Feb 9 2009 (IPS)

A million patients with chronic illnesses were treated with ozone therapy in Cuba over the past two decades. Eighty percent of the cases responded with satisfactory results. Ozone therapy, based on exposure to the gas, is applied in hospitals throughout Cuba, to patients with diabetes and has “extraordinarily good” results, Dr. Silvia Menéndez, lead author of the book “Ozone”, told Tierramérica. The text presents the country's experience with this natural technique.

Ozone therapy is also used in treating some eye, joint and neurological illnesses. Although it does not provide a cure, it improves the quality of life of the patients, said Menéndez.

“This is the century of natural therapies, and many are considering them because they are less aggressive and less toxic. The problem is that people need to be convinced, and to do so we have to conduct research and produce results,” she added.
