			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>By IPS Correspondents  and - -<br />TEGUCIGALPA, Oct 24 2010 (IPS) </p><p>The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will create a fund of one billion dollars for Honduras for the next four years, announced Carmelo Rizzo, the Honduran representative to that agency. <span id="more-124338"></span> The funds come from donors including the United States, Canada and the European Union, Rizzo told Tierramérica. The purpose is to meet the needs of some five million Hondurans &#8212; out of a total population of eight million &#8212; who face serious problems related to nutrition.</p>
<p>In the Honduran west and south, FAO is promoting successful food security programs among women and indigenous peoples, whose experiences it hopes to replicate in other parts of the country.</p>
