- – The state University of San Carlos and the National Forestry Institute of Guatemala (INAB) are to present a compact disk of nearly 3,500 studies — conducted between 1960 and 2002 — on the state of the country's forest resources. The database, now in the review phase, will include research on deforestation, pest infestations, the agricultural frontier, fires, forest species, and others, INAB spokeswoman Alejandra Samayoa told Tierramérica.
The CD will be distributed to universities, research centers and other organizations before being made available to the public.
