Ecobreves – ARGENTINA: Environmental Damage Up for Debate

BUENOS AIRES, May 12 2007 (IPS) - Lawyers, biologists, geologists, engineers and chemists will take part in the first Interdisciplinary Meetings for the Prevention of Environmental Damage, to be held in Argentina May 17-18. “These sessions aim to generate an interdisciplinary space for debate and analysis of these issues, in which professionals from different areas can participate, including officials, lawmakers, technicians and teachers,” Anabella Ferral, of the chemical and environmental consultancy Galatea, told Tierramérica.

The experts were convened by the Center for Human Rights and Environment, Galatea, and the Blas Pascal University, whose campus in the central province of Córdoba will host the event.

The experts will give presentations on legislation and other tools for preventing pollution and for cleaning up water, air and soils, as well as on environmental education, alternative energies and corporate social responsibility.
