- Painting, sculpture, photography, music, literature and performance are part of the Festival of Water, under way Jun. 17-23 in 11 municipalities of the southeastern Venezuelan state of Bolívar. “We made water the protagonist of the art, the source of inspiration and the means of expression in an area bathed by our Orinoco and Caroní rivers, whose dams produce two-thirds of the electricity in Venezuela,” Jocelyn Salinas, festival organizer, told Tierramérica at the governmental Institute of Arts of Image and Space.
Contests for digital photography and children's stories are open to the public.
German artist Julius Popp — who uses water to produce sounds and images –, Dutch photographer Bob Schalkwijk and Argentine artist Martín Molinero will accompany Venezuelan artists in this seven-day event.
