SANTIAGO, Aug 25 2007 (IPS) - Permaculture, which promotes human habitat that follows the patterns of nature, will arrive in Chile with a meeting to take place in the capital in September. The “first bio-regional meeting for sustainable life: cultivating links and intelligent networks for local action,” organized for Sep. 18-19 by the groups Ecocentro Eluwn and Inforganic, is to be the point of departure for a permaculture network in Chile.

It is “a tool for the design of sustainable human ecosystems, a philosophy born out of the observation of patterns in nature and applicable in any situation or circumstance,” Gustavo Lerner, one of the organizers, told Tierramérica.

David Holmgren, one of the founders of the concept in Australia in the 1970s, will be the gathering's guest of honor.
