- The environmental watchdog Greenpeace has called on the Argentine government to replace incandescent lightbulbs with low-energy bulbs in all public buildings in Buenos Aires, Rosario and Córdoba, the country’s three largest cities. “We demand that the government, if it is really concerned about the energy issue, take this urgent, example-setting and easily implemented measure,” Rosario Espina, coordinator of the climate change campaign for Greenpeace Argentina, told Tierramérica.
The proposal comes in the context of the government’s own National Program for Rational and Efficient Energy Use, announced Dec. 22, which aims to replace 25 million incandescent bulbs in Argentine homes.
The Argentine plan presented at the 13th Climate Change Conference held in December in Bali, Indonesia, included the measure that Greenpeace is now demanding.
