- The Ministry of Environment of Honduras will present a draft public policy later this year aimed at cleaner production through the combined efforts of the state and private sectors in the development of measures to conserve energy, water and raw materials. The policy forms part of a regional initiative promoted by the Central American Commission on the Environment and Development, and will seek to achieve substantial savings in environmental costs in both the public and private sectors, Environment Minister Rigoberto Cuéllar told Tierramérica.
In Honduras an inter-institutional committee made up by 15 government agencies has begun to work with 80 private companies. The results will form part of the experiences and lessons learned incorporated into the draft policy that will be presented to Congress for consideration.
